Donations
As a self funding voluntary support group we rely on donations and fundraising to keep us running. We aim this year to achieve charitable status.
Funds raised and donated so far have been used to:
- Part fund this website.
- Produce support group T shirts.
In 2008, Macmillan Cancer Support awarded the group with a 'Helping You Helping Others' grant to support the following activities:
- Production of leaflets for the support group.
- Provision of post-operative domiciliary support to patients and their families.
- Holding a free pampering day for patients.
- Part funding the purchase of a laptop and printer.
- Providing travel costs to support members attendance.
- Providing printing and distribution costs for a quarterly news letter.
Our plans for future funds include:
- Providing start up costs for new Keeping Abreast support groups throughout the UK.
- Fund counselling training for support group committee members.
- Starting a Bra bank.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to financially support us -Keeping Abreast will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.
