John Sansby - Chairman

John was invited to join Keeping Abreast by Beverley Bittitteri.  Previously he worked for 37 years in the water industry until he retired in 1999.  Since then John has volunteered with charitable organisations such as the Campaign to Protect Rural England, the Anglian Water Trust Fund and the EoS Foundation.  He is also a school governor at his local primary school

Anna Beckingham

Anna was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2007 and underwent an immediate DIEP reconstruction in May 2007.  Shortly afterwards she founded Keeping Abreast along with Beverley Birritteri and Ruth Harcourt.  Anna is married with two small children and previously worked as a chartered physiotherapist. 

Beverley Birritteri

Beverley was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2006 and had immediate DIEP reconstruction in July 2006. After supporting Anna during the time before and after her operation,  Beverley along with Ruth Harcourt and Anna Beckingham founded Keeping Abreast. Beverley is married with two grown up children.

Iris Knights - Treasurer:

Iris was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2004. She underwent delayed DIEP reconstruction in March 2006, followed by a breast reduction in Feb 2007. Iris became involved as treasurer in the early days of the group after being swept away by the enthusiasm of both Anna and Beverley. Iris is married and works full time for Norfolk Social Services.

Alison Best - Secretary:

Alison was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2007. She underwent chemotherapy, a bi-lateral mastectomy with tissue expander implants and radiotherapy. Alison met Anna through a breast cancer website and after her surgery took on the role of Keeping Abreast Secretary. Alison is married with two small children and has previously worked as an Accounts Payable Manager and as a Financial Systems Consultant at Norwich Union.

Ruth Harcourt - Breast Reconstruction Nurse Specialist:

Ruth is the first and still the only Breast Reconstruction Nurse Specialist working at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. She took up the post in 2003 but had previously been working in the field of Plastic Surgery for many years. Her role includes working with Plastic Surgeons, Breast Surgeons and Breast Care Nurses and she is able to support ladies during their breast cancer and reconstruction journey. In 2007 she was able to help Anna & Beverley set up "Keeping Abreast" and attends support group meetings, fundraising events, offering her expertise where possible. Ruth is married and has 2 children currently at university.

Victoria White - Events Organiser 

Victoria became an integral part of the Keeping Abreast team after being inspired by the way best friend Anna, coped with her diagnosis, treatment and recovery.  Before moving to the area Vicki was a National Account Manager for a European business services company but now, as well as looking after her two children and helping her husband run the family business, she is the driving force behind the organisation of our big fundraising events such as the Charity Ball and the Fashion Show.
