We have been so proud to receive some wonderful comments and feedback in the weeks following the ‘More Than Just Fashion’ Shows. So inspiring to hear what it has meant to the models who took part in the show, and see how it helps those that came along to watch and maybe facing a similar path. Here are some of the models…
Tracey “Taking part in the fashion show was such a privilege… It restored a lot of the confidence that I lost following my mastectomy. To be a part of such a wonderful show, meeting other brave ladies and sharing stories…. And the charity itself, I would not be where I am today emotionally without them”.
Lucy, “The ‘More Than Just Fashion’ Show was the most awe-inspiring thing I have ever taken part in…. I am still beaming since taking part in the show with such inspirational, brave, and strong women and feel more confident in my body and proud of being me again! “
Jo, “I’m struggling to put into words what the fashion show meant to me, but when I look back, I have a sense of pride, a feeling of being inspired by those around me, an increase in my confidence both mentally and physically and most importantly of all I just smile…..a lot, something that was taken away from me last year after diagnosis and treatment. This was something I needed yet I don’t think I was truly aware of its impact on me until after the event”.
Hayley, “It’s difficult to sum up how the fashion show helped me in one sentence…. I could write a book it’s helped me in SO many ways. I’ve made friends for life, my confidence has improved immensely but most importantly, I’ve gained my identity back. “I am me again!”
Danielle, “The show has given me a huge boost of confidence I didn’t know I had. Even before I was diagnosed I would never have walked around in my underwear let alone with one boob missing! But I felt great and it made me realise that my scars just show how strong I’ve been and how far I’ve come in a year. I can’t thank you enough for giving me that opportunity”.
Sharon, “Doing the shows was totally out of my comfort zone as I am quite a shy person but gave me a real buzz, and I will never forget the noise the audience made to support me. I am beautiful, I am brave and I am proud (scars and all). Thank you Keeping Abreast for giving me the opportunity to realise this”.
Jo, “Taking part in the fashion Show was an amazing experience that I will never forget. It was wonderful to give something back to Keeping Abreast for the support they have given me throughout my breast reconstruction journey and prove that there is life after breast cancer”.
We are delighted to say the event raised just over £9k which is incredible, and will help so many women and their families going through their own journeys.
The 3rd and 4th October saw 23 amazing ladies take to the stage modelling at the 2018 Keeping Abreast ‘More Than Just Fashion’ shows. The models were the the stars of the shows so a huge thanks to them as they worked so hard. There are also lots of other thanks too….
